We invite everyone who cares about vulnerable women seeking asylum to stand with us on Saturday 14th May in Durham and demand the closure of Hassockfield aka Derwentside. Our demonstration on Durham Cathedral Cathedral Palace Green takes place from 12 noon to 3pm. It will involve all the many groups opposed to Hassockfield/Derwentside and all that it stands for.
We now have evidence from projects spo0nsored by the Home Office itself that humane community alternatives to locking women up could be set up. The centre is not just, it’s not right, and now we know it’s not even necessary!
